Celebrate National Kinesiology Week and Get Moving!
Physical activity plays a key role in your health, well-being, and quality of life. Whether you’re just starting out, or looking to do a little more, every bit of movement counts. At Mosaic, our kinesiologists work with you one-on-one to set meaningful goals, stay motivated, and build a routine that works for you. With their experience and support, you’ll learn how to exercise safely and feel confident knowing you’re in good hands.
What Do Our Mosaic Kinesiologists Recommend?
For adults, the guidelines suggest:
- 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week. That’s about 30 minutes, 5 days a week. Short on time? Three 10-minute sessions can be just as effective!
- Muscle strengthening activities at least two days per week. Bodyweight exercises, resistance bands, weights and house-hold items like soup cans can all work well.
- Less sitting and more moving. Try to add light intensity movement throughout the day wherever and whenever you can.
Easy Ways to Add More Activity to Your Day
Try these simple ways to add more activity to your day:
- Walk or bike instead of driving short distances.
- Take the stairs instead of using the elevator or escalator.
- Try bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups, and lunges.
- Increase your walking speed to “brisk” with family, friends or even when walking your dog!
- Join a recreational sport or fitness class.
- Add a short stretching or yoga session to your morning routine.
- Set hourly reminders to stand up and move
Remember, every step counts toward better physical and mental health. If you’re ready to get started, speak with your primary care provider about a referral to a kinesiologist at your Primary Care Network. We’re here to support you!
