Community Partner Feature: Momentum
November is Financial Literacy Month, which focuses on helping Canadians build financial resilience so they can confidently navigate financial decisions in challenging times. Financial literacy is an important part of healthcare and social determinants of health. Healthcare professionals can play an important role in helping patients address and reduce financial barriers and connect them to community resources.
This month, Mosaic would like to recognize our community partner, Momentum. Momentum is a change-making organization that combines social and economic strategies to reduce poverty. They use a holistic approach that covers everything from financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and skills training, to developing communication skills, building self-confidence and establishing positive social networks.
Momentum offers programs and services that support Calgarians living with financial barriers through low cost and no cost programming. Through Momentum programs, individuals can access assistance to start a business, manage and save money, or build skills towards better jobs.
Mosaic and Momentum have been working together to provide access to financial literacy programs and resources for patients. Momentum staff are also promoting awareness of Mosaic and our services to the clients they serve.
